About this Product
Deciduous Leaf Out maps the modelled leaf-on fraction within deciduous and mixedwood fuel areas. The current application provides dated products for the Calgary Forest Area so users can compare seasonal patterns, inspect individual locations, and download the mapped results.
The service builds on the leaf-phase methods developed by Robb Consulting Services Inc. for Alberta Wildfire. It uses 30-metre Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 imagery and a group of classification models to identify eligible observations as leaf-on or leaf-off. Those classifications are summarized on the provincial 100-metre fuel grid in NAD83 / 10TM Forest (EPSG:3400).
Analysis is restricted to the supported deciduous and mixedwood fuel classes (D-1/D-2 and M-1/M-2). A cell's percentage describes the proportion of contributing classifications identified as leaf-on. Supporting imagery-age, acquisition, and product information helps users interpret the selected release.
